ENGLISH LANGUAGE CHALLENGES

My experience with the blog was funny , because many times we could decide the topics, making the exercisemuch more interesting .
The truth is that the last time i wrote in english was in high school, and i had lost a lot of practice , which is essential when you want to learn a language.
I think the level of English of the course is very good, especially the pronunciation
of some of my classmates .

To keep practicing my English , I intend to see more movies without subtitles to stimulate my ear and acquire more vocabulary, because I realized that it is still very basic.
On the other hand, I think the videos are a good exercise to practice pronunciation, but I must say I'm a little shy and I was a little uncomfortable with the camera, because i am not very good with the improvisation, especially in another language. But I think it's a good way to use the technology , especially when we had a interrupted semester .

I appreciate the dedication of the teacher in the field, but I think the university should understand that, it s very hard for the students from other cities, being in Santiago for only one subject. I hope we can reach an agreement, because I have the intention of graduating this year, and i need to pass this course :(

curriculum

When i decided to study journalism, one of the things that help me to take the decision was the curriculum of the career, because it was a very atractive offer for a girl that likes the humanist side of life, ands it a little confused. The subjects seemed very interesting, not so superficial, but more philosophical. And in part it turn out to be that way, the problem is that now i dont know what to do with all that theory, and some times it a little scary when you are already in four year, i you dont know exactly what you ve learned, or what you do better than others. I think we, the students of journalism, have always this problem where we know a lot of things but very unspecific.
So maybe we should from thrid grade, choose elective subjetcs that build our future road in the career. Maybe it s a good idea now that everything its more and more complex in the area of comunications, because of the technology that it a lot faster than our capacity of adaption.
i think the teaching methods are okey and our teachers are also very good academics, but sometimes they tend to thing were are all going to be teachers, or researchers in the area, and we need to be prepared for the world outside the university, where sometimes  it doesnt matter if you have read a lot or you can write very good essays.
Well, anyway, i think a big part of what you learn or do it s on your hands, and today its always the day where you can start doing things, because, like they say, tomorrow never comes.

winter holidays

I think will are not going to have winter holidays, because of the strike, so i dont have any plans for these year. But i had the idea to go to buenos aires with some friends, maybe for two weeks. I have a friend that study there so i can stay  in his place for free, and i can spend my money in other things.
Most of my winters holidays are in Puerto Varas, the city where i grew up, and where my father lives. Its a beutiful city, and very touristic, so it s a perfect place to relax. I have homemade food, i can sit in the afternoon next to the fire, play with my little brother, see some movies with my father, hangout with my friends that also come to visit there families.
It s like a little break from all the stress and chaos from Santiago, a very different way of living that gives me the power to keep going with my university studies.
It s all so quiet that the frist nights i cant sleep because i m already use to the noise from the capital, but i aprecciate a lot that nothing wakes me up in the morning and that i can sleep till my eyes open by their own.
Like all winter holydays i drink a lot of tee in the day, and wine with my friends in the night, remembering good all times when we were teenagers... return to Puerto Varas it s always like a flashback for me. Do all the things that i used to with people that i dont see much in Santiago, it s a very good feeling.

The best food to cook for myself

Today i made a delicious pumpking cream, perfect for a rainy day like today...
First i cut the pumpking in little pieces, then i cut a little onion and put it all together in a clay plate with salt and olive oil in the oven for about twenty minutes in the maximum temperature.
You know when the pumpking is cooked or ready when its soft and the fork comes out easily.
Now to make the cream you put everything in a bowl with some water and cream, and you grind all with the mini pymer if you have one, i think a blender should work too for this step.
Depending in the consistency you want, you can put more or less water and cream.
And its ready! so simple and really tasty.
You can use the vegetable you want or have in your house and the recipe it's almost the same, you don't have to be a master chef to prepare this, and nowadays you can find all the recipes in the world in internet, or in youtube, so there are no excuses to try to cook something for yourself.
Actually know you can find really good videos, that in three minutes show you how to prepare a meal or a desert, step by step, with common ingredients and no special techniques! So you only need time and motivation, give it a try, you won't regret it!

Post-graduate studies

I think it s enough time in the university for me, i don t want to take a major or a master right away, maybe later... I need to see first what would ill like to do outside the academy, so that i know  in which way i want to specialize. That makes more sense to me, because im not very sure if i want to keep studying just because it s suposed to be the best option.

Sometimes i think we are always in a race to get more and more accreditation, with more and specific titles that are only useful,  if you concentrate and discover your horizon, or your road , and then, maybe , you can find out what you want to do with everything you ve learned.

future job

I think i would like a job where i could work with people that have my same interests, and are not only coworkers, but also friends. I would love someday work in a film production, because there you can see the whole process and be part of it. I would feel very lucky if a have the chance one day to work in some thing like that.

I would also liked a job that requires being at a office, but that also have some outdoors activities, because i love to travel, so it would be very nice if that's part of the contract. jiji

I also though in taking a major, but i'm not pretty sure if a want to stay in the university much longer. Personally i think five years is enough. It's a lot more than in other countrys were you study three maybe, and then you can do a major in two. That make more sense, i think our carreer shouldn't be that long, because it's also a lot money.

holidays

My best holidays

Last summer i went to Uruguay with my boyfriend for about one month. We took a bus from Bariloche to Buenos Aires, and then we cross in a big ship to Montevideo.
When we arrived we stay about a week in the house of some friends that have a hostal in the center of Montevideo. We had the luck to see the carnival for free. We enjoy a lot at the rhythm of Samba and Murga, two typical musical genre from Uruguay.

After we travel through the coast, visiting the most beautiful beaches i've ever been. Some of there were Puntal del diablo, Barra de Valizas, La paloma. For me, those three are amazing places to have nice and quiet days of summer.

I must say we were a little shocked with the prices, the cost of living is a little higher than in Chile, and when you are travelling you spend a lot more, so it was a little more expensive than what we though, but anyways, was  worth it.
Uruguay's people are the best, it's such a small and calm country, that you never feel stressed or running. All the people that we met help us, and took the time to explain us some things that you can´t find in a map or in a tourist guide, so i recommend it totally.

I never had a love relationship with an animal, but last year a beautiful female dog came to my house and stayed. She came with “juancho”, my other dog that always gos downtown in the mornings and returns in the afternoons. One day he returned with princesa, that since that day live s with us . We all love her very much, because she is always happy and gives you a lot of love. I think she was from the street and has lived a lot, maybe she has around six years old…
She is always  running in the yard, and playing with the dog from my neighbor, but you can tell she is a lot older than him, but  somehow they get along and spend the whole day together. When we party outside she join us, and runs through the guests like she were part of it too. Like one more of the crew.

I like that she never barks without a good reason, she is very calm and sweet with everybody. That´s very important for me, because I don’t like small dogs that have a sharp bark and they have always a reluctant attitude with anyone that gets closer.

languages

Since i was little i had english lessons in school, and i enjoy them, because for me, in some way, it was exciting to have the possibility to express myself with new words and pronunciation. It was like a game where i could be another person, from another country.

With the time english was the language from the movies or music that i listened to, so in that time, i learned a lot, looking the lyrics in internet, or just listening every time i watched a movie.

But in some point, i think stop learning. I dont know why, maybe because since i left school i dont practice anymore. But my english with the time it s not getting any better, in fact, its getting really poor.

In that way i think its very interesting what the speaker told today about Mapudungun. Because when nobody talks your language, not at school, not in the street, not when you go to buy some bread, it s very difficult to hold on to it.

Our mind, that it s very brilliant for some things, it also forgets more quickly then we think... So when we talk about languages, the first thing we should realize, is that we need each other.

I would like to go to Portugal, because I’ve seen a few pictures of Lisboa and it looks really pretty, I don’t know much about the country, so I don’t have any other arguments for my choice,  but for me that’s part of the fun when you go somewhere new, to discover and be amazed with what you see. I would like to explore the strees of Lisboa, and then spend some time in the beach, because I love big citys that have some water around them. I don´t know If I would like to stay in Portugal to work or live, because I’ve never been there, so maybe is not what I expected.
